Finchley Sixth Form Centre provides new teaching, social facilities and study areas for 150 students. We provided all mechanical, electrical and sustainability services including liaising with statutory authorities, above ground soil and waste, class change systems, sanitary pipework, water services installation, heating, gas, mechanical ventilation, comfort cooling, electrical sub-distribution services, lighting, power, power supply, earthing and bonding. The new building management system (BMS) including fire alarm, access system, security, CCTV, data and telephone systems were all designed to be interlinked with the existing school system. Sustainable features include passive ventilation with motorised louvres and roof turrets operated by CO2 detectors. Photovoltaic panels are installed on the roof including an energy generation viewing panel to let staff and students identify how much on-site electricity is being generated. A Brise soleil system provides solar shading and temperature control while rainwater harvesting helps reduce water wastage.
